NEP 2020

Curriculum

At St Kabir IIS, our curriculum is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines set by the CBSE. The NEP’s overarching vision is to create an education system deeply rooted in Indian values and beliefs, which can drive India’s progress towards becoming a global knowledge superpower. Our curriculum aims to provide high-quality education to all students, irrespective of their backgrounds, to build the foundation for their personal and professional growth, contributing to the overall development of the country. Inculcating constitutional and ethical values is a top priority for us, as we aim to empower our students to become responsible and productive citizens. Furthermore, we strive to keep the ancient Indian wisdom alive by incorporating it into various forms, allowing our students to access the vast knowledge from ancient manuscripts.

The NEP 2020 lays out a four-stage structure for school education –

Grade 1-2

Foundational Stage

This stage focuses on teaching in play-based or activity-based methods and on the development of language skills.

Grade 3-5

Preparatory Stage

The focus in this stage is on language development and numeracy skills. Here, the method of teaching and learning is play and activity-based, and also includes classroom interactions.

Grade 6-8

Middle Stage

This stage involves experiential learning in the sciences, mathematics, arts, social sciences and humanities.

Grade 9-12

Secondary & Senior Secondary Stage

This stage will cover two phases: Classes 9 and 10, and classes 11 and 12. Concepts will be covered in greater depth in this stage.

Learning Process

Our learning process encourages students to take charge of their own learning journey. The school curriculum includes subject integration, group work, and various integrated approaches such as experiential learning, project-based learning, and self-directed learning. The aim is to encourage students to ponder, explore, and understand beyond the textbooks. The school draws inspiration from educational stalwarts such as Gandhiji, Maria Montessori, and Gijubhai Badheka, who emphasized learning by doing. The classroom displays showcase the learning that the learners have ingrained. The Mathematics lab is equipped with butterfly kits that cover core subjects like Math, Science, and Social Science, allowing each student to explore and delve deeper into the topics.

Internationalism and Global Perspective

St. Kabir Indian International School has been dedicated to incorporating internationalism into its curriculum since its inception, with the aim of preparing its students to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world. By linking with schools overseas, St. Kabir’s learners are encouraged to engage in collaborative learning experiences that go beyond the boundaries of traditional curriculum. The school’s commitment to promoting internationalism has earned it recognition from the British Council, which has awarded it the prestigious International School Award (ISA) and the British Council Award. Those interested in learning more about the British Council International Schools Awards Programme can visit their website at www.britishcouncil.in.

Digital Enhancements

Hybrid teaching, with digital tools being used within the classroom, helps provide an interactive and engaging learning experience for our students. Technology-enabled classrooms encourage learning beyond classrooms. The school has strict measures in place to ensure students only access appropriate content, with links regularly provided to encourage learning and facilitate research from home. This also allows for quality time between students and caregivers, who are well-informed about the ongoing curriculum. Communication between teachers, students, and parents is facilitated through the Edusprint App, ensuring everyone is on the same page. The dynamic SCHOOL MIS system provides login access through student, parent, and teacher portals, allowing access to all aspects of the curriculum and related activities. The app also serves as a central hub for all circulars, bridge activities, event details, photos, and notices.
