The saying “Sports do not build character. They reveal it” was proven true during the 11th Sports Meet of St. Kabir Indian International School, which was held for students in grades 5-12. The venue was well-decorated with colorful satin flags, and the platoons were dressed in their respective house colors, giving the event a grand feel.

The program started with the arrival of the esteemed Chief Guest, Razia Sheikh, a former Indian track and field athlete who competed in javelin throw. She was the first Indian woman to cross the 50-meter barrier, achieving this feat at the 1987 South Asian Games, and represented India in two editions of the Asian Games. As per the school’s culture and tradition, the Chief Guest was presented with a memento and a potted plant.

The March Past of the school and the drill display, followed by the victory run, lighting of the torch, and Oath ceremony, marked the beginning of the event. The Chief Guest declared the Athletic Meet open after the beautifully synchronized movements of the platoons had been showcased.

Ms. Razia Sheikh, in her address, laid emphasis on the need for character-building, which can be achieved through perseverance and discipline. Her words resonated with the students and faculty, and her positive vibes about the school were well received.

The tracks witnessed a surge of adrenaline, with the students showcasing their house spirit. The prize distribution ceremony took place simultaneously, and the Tug-O-War event was a crowd-pleaser, with the houses using their strength and coordination to pull to victory. The Nehru House bagged the Best House Trophy.

The students’ victory run filled the audience with energy, and the event ended with the Beating of the Retreat by the band. The Founder Director, Ms. Radhika Tandon, received the school flag, followed by the School Song. The closing ceremony marked the end of the grand celebration, leaving the audience eager to return for the Annual Sports Day the following year.
