Indian Air Force Day Celebration 2017

Indian Air Force Day was celebrated on 9th October 2017 at St. Kabir IIS. The guest of honour, Group Captain Prashant Bharadwaj, (who heads Aerospace Safety Aspects for flying at Air Force Station Harni, Vadodara and has flown various aircrafts like MIG-21, MIG-23, AN32s, with more than 3000 hours including, pivotal combat in Kargil war), was welcomed and escorted with a slow march, against a marching tune played by the IIS band. The very colourful and entertaining programme, introduced by Cultural Captain Sharanya Dey, compered by Ananyaaben Verma and concluded by Remanika Tandon included – Achintit Bhashan, Poem on Swachhta, a skit-A night at the tea stall, Choral Recitation and a dance and a fiery finale speech on Patriotism. The compering was furthermore enlightened with the facts pertaining to the Indian Air Force by Annanya Verma. Captain Prashant Bharadwaj’s delivered an inspiring speech on ‘Passion and Profession’ and how with courage and determination a person can rule the tranquil sky!’ The programme ended with tree plantation by Group Captain Bharadwaj and a walk through the school’s KEDI project and library, led by Sulagna Bannerjee and Pooja Shah. As a token of our appreciation for his time, Group Captain Bharadwaj was presented a folk-art painting by Durga Agarwal and a paper mache fighter plane model by Sahil Shaikh. Sir has extended an invitation to the school to plan a children’s visit to the Air Force station.
