Competitions play a role in motivating students to perform and excel and offer a lot more reward than just the winning prize. Speech & debate sharpens student’s ability to think and listen critically, and articulate their thoughts confidently and persuasively. The ability to think critically is essential for our children today, who are being bombarded with humanistic ideas and political agendas in movies, TV, social media, music, literature, and even their textbooks. Keeping this in view, we at St. Kabir IIS-Grades-3 & 4 conducted the Great Speeches Competition. The purpose of conducting the competition was not only to blend learning with fun but also to develop confidence in the students by giving them an opportunity to get on the stage and speak in front of an audience. This competition offered a chance for the participants to gain substantial experience, showcase skills, analyze and evaluate outcomes and uncover personal aptitude. The Great Speeches Competition also encouraged the students to adopt innovative techniques and develop their ideas and skills. Students displayed their talents and prepared great inspiring speeches given by famous national or international personalities (not celebrities from the film industry) only in English.
